MYERS MANX DUNE BUGGY CLUB SUCKS!!!

Around the beginning of the year me and my girlfriend Teri were invited by a member of the Myers Manx Dune Buggy Club to come join them for the Laughlin Desert Challenge SCORE off road race/campover on January 21st - 23rd. I made sure to explain that we would not be bringing the baja and to make sure it would still be ok. We were told that we could still camp with them and then go to the race the next day with them even though we would not be bringing our baja bug but would in fact be arriving in one of our 2000 Jettas. After some more research and a few phone calls I was told by the member of the club that we would be camping at Davis Camp on the Arizona side of Laughlin and was also told by the park rangers of Davis Camp that camping was only $8.00. Even though it was a 55 mile one way trip to Laughlin I was very excited to go and my girlfriend even appeared to be excited. Finally January 21st comes and after getting a late start because Teri had to work we set off for Laughlin. After the almost 3 hour trip we arrive at Davis camp around 11:30 P.M. Now things start to go bad. Even though I was told by a park ranger that the camping fee was $8.00 it was in-fact $10.00 a night plus $1.00 a night for a pet camping fee! Now $10.00 still isn’t bad but the $1.00 fee for my puppy to stay with us was too much for me. No way was I going to pay that one! We move on past the ranger station and find a good camping spot fairly close to the MMDC so we could feel more involved even though we didn’t have the baja with us. We start setting up camp as quiet as we could and within an hour had everything setup and ready. It was starting to get very late and in order to get up early the next morning for the activities we decided that it was time to go to bed. Well the morning came very fast for us, at about 5:30 A.M. the following morning we were woken up by the Park Ranger asking us if we were members of the Myers Manx Dune Buggy club. I responded by telling him no but we were invited. The park ranger than informed us that we had to leave and that we were not wanted at the campground since we were not MEMBERS of the MMDB Club. So here we are 55 miles from home at a campground that we were invited to but being kicked out from the same people that invited us for doing exactly what we told them we would be doing. Needless to say the weekend was ruined. We did get to go to the race for one day but without a place to stay we couldn’t stay for the second. I thought we were going to have a fun weekend involving off-road racing and VW’s but instead we get treated as outsiders and forced to leave.
