Here is a pic of my '68 Ghia....I bought it this way. It is a 1968cc engine with Dual Solex 40P-11 carbs, bus 091 tranny, bus rear brakes etc, has ext. oil cooler on roof, Lighting, Mastercraft seats, 5 point harneses, full guages, and is completely street legal. Eric Gwaltney, Springfield, Oregon

hey this is my 69'baja bug 2 years in the making my name is Dj and i live in sacramento Cali., it has a 1914cc engine, long travel suspition all the little good stuff im in the hole about 10,000 for being 17 thats not to shabby. -DJ Skaggs

My car is a 1970. I restored it a few years ago and in the process, reinforced the rear trailing arms, twisted the front beam and installed raised spindles, fully welded all seams, installed double tube bumpers, Mickey Thompson baja belteds on the rear, Pontiac Fiero front bucket seats and stereo with CD.

My name is Jake, I'm 16 and from san diego, ca. My dad has had many Bajas and has helped me through most of the restoration of this 65' baja. Right now it has a torquey little 1200 in it, stock swing axle rear end. We tweaked the front tortions way up. We just started on it so there is more to come.

72' standard, bosch blue coil, mild cam, KYB oil filled, one peice front, three peice rear, bull bumpers up front, was originally the leftovers of an SUV vrs VW accident, the front end was ripped halfway off and they paid me 500 bucks to remove it, i was gonna dispose of it but figured why not? soon to be upgrades are as follows, lightbar, tabs for the bumper so i can mount lights, upgrade to 1776, upgrade tranny, get a H.D. clutch, fix heater box, install five year old CB, roof rack, new rear tires, remove oil sump. Not only is it my daily driver, its my first car.

This is my bug. In Louisiana we dont have very much sand, but we do have our share of mud. Heres my little baja splashing through a puddle. It has a 1641cc engine, 30 inch gumbo monster mudders on the rear, bus tranny, raised front end.

These are the pics that I like to see, you have a pic of a nice shinny baja than a pic of the same car tearing it up. Thanks Gaston!!

My car is a 63' with a 1600DP its got a mild cam a 009 distributor and various things for mud protection. Its got 31-10.50 on the back and 215-75 on the front the paint and flames were all done by me with rattle cans. The pictures were taken in the shotgun creek park area known as the bowl in lane county oregon. -Gaston-

"WITCH" - A 1959 on a 1972 pan, runs a 1914cc, Weber carb, she wears 30x10.50s on all 4's, has a cut and twist frontend and a twisted rearend, 4 wheel disk brakes. She is packing a 4500# Winch (for our 4x4 buddies then attempt to follow) Custom fenders and dash.

My name is Dan and I live in British Columbia, Canada. Lots of logging roads and fire trails to lead you off the main roads into some nasty shit. Up until now my buddys have all led the way on our little 4x4 treks into the bush. I told them what I was going to build, and they all laughed! Ha, Say's I,"Bug's are tough"! So I found this old 74 Super B that some one else had already made several mistakes creating, and began replacing everything within my mechanical abilities,(which range from building my own wheel bearing press to finding the right sized bungy cord to hold the hood shut). I think I need a new tranny as this one is kinda whining and even with a new clutch plate I can't seem to get it to stop slipping in 3rd going up a steep hill.Lots in 1st & 2nd off the start though. "EvilBeetle" has now got 18" clearance rear and 15" front. I run 31.5s on the rear and tossed in some coilovers for strength, bolted in a couple of 5 point racing seats and harness', some extra roll bars and a brand new stock 74 1600Dp with bosch elec, and a stinger exhaust for some stupid reason. "And the thing goes anywhere"! My buddy's don't laugh any more....... I'll send some bush pics if I ever get a camera to last the ride! Dan

These pics were sent in by Paul from New Zealand. They were taken at a 4x4 track by the Waimakariri river in Christchurch. It's a 65 with raised front and rear. Plans are in the works to upgrade the 1300 cc motor and suspension soon.

These pictures might be a little hard to see because they were taken with a video camera and converted to stills. Now who said a super beetle couldn't be a good baja bug?

These next pics were sent in by Jon Pergl. This beast started life as a 1972 Standard, now it sports a Dual Port 1776 not to mention these special goodies; Webber Carbs, K&N filters, Bosch .009 electronic ignition, stock(for now) tranny with a hurst speed shifter, GT steering wheel, and the best thing...It's paid for. Current on going mods include a Chenworth class 11 cage for starters followed by 15X1300 paddles for the Glamis sand mounted on aluminum wheels. Future mods include a full rollcage, 2110 engine, Type 2 tranny, upgraded axles, CV's and strengthened pan, Lazer off-road lights and Beard Super Seats. Even though it's his first baja I would say he's off to a good start.

These pics were sent in by Michael Heslin from Hemet, CA. This is what he has to say about his baja. I found her about 7 years ago in Palm Springs (middle pic). Engine and tranny both froze and body full of cancer. The bars, fiber glass, shifter, and a pan with a 1960 pink slip had me sold that day for $200. Pulled a swing axle out of a 67 and rebuilt the engine. I was given a 72 beetle and swapped the bodies, because of the 60’s body cancer. From there I just found, traded, painted all the parts I needed. This one is truly the Baja built on a Budget. I worked construction during the days, college at night, Baja and parties even later at night and early morning. I signed up for the auto body class at college when I heard you could have full access to all the shop tools. That is when the fun began, welders, plasma cutters, grinders, sanders, sand blaster, and paint guns. That was where I took the body off and sand blasted the pan, primed and painted. I can tell this is going to take to long so here are her specs; 1960 Chassis, 1972 body, 1600SP, stock carb, custom wiring, 30x9.5 Wranglers, One piece front end, 31” front tires, front and rear skid plate, KYB Gas Adjust Shocks, KC Daylighters, Sucky Steel wheels, and an Alternator.

These pics were sent in by Mike Woods from Vacaville, CA. Mike says that this is a 1967 beetle that they cut 30 inches from the middle of the body. You actually drive this car from where the back seat used to be. Mike says even though it only has a 1600 engine with a Weber Progressive carb and header it still has enough power to pull the front tires off the ground. He also says its great in the mud, hopefully he will send in some mud pics soon!!
